Can you bring alcohol to Chile?
Short answer
Allowed, within limits
Alcohol
allowed, within limitsUp to 2,500 cc (2.5 litres) of alcoholic beverages per adult traveller duty-free as part of baggage.
Aduana Exempt Resolution No. 309 (Annex 5, point I.3) includes in a traveller's duty-free baggage, per adult traveller, '2500 cubic centimeters of alcoholic beverages'. The joint Aduana–SAG declaration form states this applies to 'people over the age 18'. Anything above the allowance must be declared and taxed. Separately, duty-free shop purchases made on arrival in Chile (Law 19.288) are allowed up to US$675 per trip — Exempt Resolution No. 1301 raised this from US$500 (the older figure still printed on the 2016 declaration form and on some Aduana FAQ pages; the resolution controls). Aduana's 'Visto Bueno' list notes alcoholic beverages are an SAG-controlled product for imports generally; the baggage allowance above is the traveller rule.
