Can you bring meat or dairy products to Brazil?

Short answer
Depends on specifics

  • Meat & dairy

    depends on specifics

Raw or artisanally-processed meat, cured meats, and non-industrialized milk/dairy are prohibited. Cheese, salami and doce de leite ARE allowed if in original manufacturer packaging with identifying labels — the packaging and labeling is what distinguishes an allowed item from a prohibited one.

Per Portaria MAPA n° 872/2025: any animal product brought in without sanitary proof is treated as prohibited by default. Items that do require import authorization can be pre-declared via a MAPA-issued document before travel.

Also covers: meat, dairy, cheese, milk, cured meat, salami
