Can you bring a drone to Tanzania?
Short answer
Depends on specifics
Drones
depends on specificsTCAA import permit and operator registration needed before arrival (apply at least 3 weeks ahead), or the drone is confiscated
TCAA: "Any person travelling to Tanzania with a drone" must apply for a TCAA import permit ("Without TCAA Import Permit, the drone will be confiscated at the entry point upon arrival") and register the operator (drone pilot), at least THREE WEEKS before travel. To get access to the online system, email drones@tcaa.go.tz with your phone number, address, and the drone model and purpose. No refund if the applications are not completed in time. Non-resident fees (TCAA 'Drone charges' page, https://www.tcaa.go.tz/pages/drone-charges-in-tanzania), for drones under 5 kg: registration USD 100, operations permit USD 10 per day, import permit USD 50 per drone. Fees are higher for 5.1–25 kg and over 25 kg. Canada's travel advice also says a permit is needed to import a drone.
