Can you bring a weapon to Morocco?

Short answer
Depends on specifics

  • Weapons

    depends on specifics

War weapons and their ammunition are strictly prohibited to all travelers. Ordinary hunting weapons and their ammunition may be temporarily imported by tourists only with authorization from the local Direction Générale de la Sûreté Nationale (DGSN) services (in practice: a port-of-arms permit from the provincial authority, then a DGSN import authorization), limited to 10 cartridges per weapon; rifled-barrel hunting weapons are absolutely prohibited outright. Edged weapons of any kind ('armes blanches') require a separate import license from the Foreign Trade department.

Sourced from Moroccan Customs' own restrictions text (a compiled reference going back to a 1937 decree on hunting-weapon imports, still cited as current on douane.gov.ma) plus a 2024 Customs circular listing edged weapons among goods requiring an import license. A tourist bringing a hunting weapon must also separately hold a Moroccan hunting permit to actually hunt with it.
