Can you bring codeine to Thailand?
Short answer
Depends on specifics
The official rule for Thailand below names codeine. The same rule also covers the other medicines it lists, so read the conditions carefully.
Controlled medication
depends on specificsPsychotropic medicines (Thai Schedules II, III and IV): you can carry up to a 30-day supply with a certificate or prescription from your doctor, without a permit. For a 31–90 day supply you need a Thai FDA permit, obtained at least 15 days before you travel. Narcotic medicines (Schedules II and III): up to a 90-day supply, and only with a Thai FDA permit obtained at least 15 days before you travel.
The FDA's guidance doesn't name individual drugs, so it doesn't say whether a given medicine (for example Adderall) is a narcotic, a psychotropic, or something that can't be brought in at all. If you have a stimulant or opioid prescription, confirm its schedule with the Thai FDA before you travel. The rules come from Ministerial Regulation B.E. 2567 (2024), in force since 21 September 2024.
