Can you bring tobacco or cigarettes to Sri Lanka?

Short answer
Prohibited

  • Tobacco

    prohibited

Sri Lanka Customs' Passenger Services Directorate page states: 'Cigarettes, Cigars, Beedies and Snuff are not allowed to be imported to Sri Lanka as personal baggage (accompanied or unaccompanied).' There is no duty-free tobacco allowance — the tourist exemption in the Customs passenger guide lists only clothing, wine/spirits, toilet water, perfume and souvenirs. Other forms of tobacco (e.g. loose pipe tobacco) are not named on the page; e-cigarettes are not addressed (see unverified).

Also covers: tobacco, cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, beedi, bidi, snuff, rolling tobacco
